Historical Perspective

Eden Home Ministries was birthed by God and placed in the heart and care of our Founder, President and Pastor, Pastor Bryan Reid. God gave the vision to Pastor Reid 14 years ago. In fact, one would wonder why Eden Home Ministries took so long to get started, but it has been a long and interesting journey.

In 2004 while living in Texas Pastor Reid was given the vision to start a ministry. He was scared. He was intimidated, he was afraid to start something that would possibly fail. He wondered what the nominal church would think and how he would be treated. Although he had gone to study Theology at Northern Caribbean University (Formerly West Indies College) he had not graduated with a Theological Degree. He felt that he would not be effective in leading a ministry. But he was still preaching and teaching God’s word as a faithful Seventh-Day Adventist. Yet, he never formalized God’s ministry. However, he continued to do the background work. He continued research and educated himself on how to do ministry.

But for years, Eden Home Ministries was just a dream. Pastor Reid subsequently attended and Graduated from Andrews University Seventh-Day Adventist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree. After graduation he was unemployed as a Pastor. He found other employments but he continued to preach and teach the word of God wherever he was called. 

In 2016 he got together with a group of women and men and Eden Home Ministries was formalized and registered as a corporation, headquartered in the state of Georgia. Even after that, the ministry was still not active. There were a few meetings of the Board of Directors but there was never any official start to the ministry and no gathering of the people. But Pastor Reid never gave up on the vision that God have him. 

It was not until 2018 that there was a first meeting of people. On January 6, 2018, a group of people had gathered at the home of Sis. Marva Langhorne just to eat and fellowship. Some felt displaced, some were hurting but we met and had a good time, eating and sharing. As we chatted over dinner Pastor Reid introduced Eden Home Ministry to that small group of people and it was decided that we would start meeting informally as a group. On January 13, 2018 Eden Home Ministries met for the first time, 14 years after God placed the vision in the heart of Pastor Reid. In April 2018, led by the passion of Sis. Una Lewis, the small group decided it was time to bring their gifts, and since then we have been faithfully supporting the ministry with our financial gifts.

We started off with 4 women, 3 men, 1 teenager and 1 toddler. Since then, we have seen small growth but where we have really grown is in spirit and attitude and in our love for Christ. At our outset we were meeting in homes and we met in several homes; we met in the living room of sister Marva Langhorne. We have met in the home of Sis. Pat McPherson and Bro. and Sis. Andrew Seymour. We have also met in the living Room of Pastor and Sis. Reid.

We had super dynamic, spiritually enriching Bible Studies in those homes. We had no preaching, just a pure study of God's Word. Eden Home Ministries continues to magnify the word of God in the lives of all with whom we make contact.
